We are delighted to share the successful conclusion of a three-day MIS Research Paper Development Workshop at HKBU Business School. This event presented a prime opportunity for early career researchers and PhD students to gain invaluable insights and mentorship from esteemed figures in the field of Information Systems.

The workshop commenced with a hands-on workshop by Prof. Viswanath Venkatesh, titled “Problem Definition: Art and Science Workshop on Writing an Introduction”. Prof. Venkatesh focused on the selection of pertinent problems and the crafting of compelling introductions. His enlightening guidance was especially beneficial for those seeking to master the art of motivating a paper and writing front-end of papers in the social and behavioral sciences.

Subsequent days were dedicated to paper presentation sessions and roundtable discussions, offering interactive forums for participants to refine their research concepts, engage in substantive dialogue, and cultivate a nurturing academic network.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all contributors for making this workshop a triumph. It is through such collaborative efforts that we continue to nurture a dynamic IS scholarly community, dedicated to propelling knowledge and innovation within our discipline.

Our sincerest appreciation goes to the distinguished scholars who graced the event:
Prof. Christy Cheung (Hong Kong Baptist University)
Prof. Jason Thatcher (University of Colorado Boulder)
Prof. Viswanath Venkatesh (Virginia Tech)
Dr. John Dong (Nanyang Technological University)
Dr. Marten Risius (The University of Queensland)
Dr. Sebastian Walter S. (Florida International University)
